APG's representative
What is APG?The Air Promotion Group (APG) is an enterprise established in Paris which specialize in providing passenger sales representation and distribution services to airlines. It does the traditional job of the General Sales Agent (GSA) and much more besides. APG and its selected partners around the world, all members of the APG Association, have recognized a specific need in the industry to provide BSP support services to airlines which would not otherwise find participation in certain BSPs economically worthwhile.
What is APG Association?
APG Association is an entity under the French Law of 1901 regulating nonprofit associations. Its membership consists of an expanding global network of General Sales Agents who meet APG Association's searching criteria. Some operate under the APG brand name, whereas others prefer to use their own trading names.
Regional Air Suport is a member of APG and its representative in Romania.
What is the IATA BSP Consolidator System (IBCS)?
The System has been developed by IATA Distribution Services (IDS), the division of IATA responsible for managing and operating the BSPs and Air Promotion Group (APG).
It is a business reality that not all BSPs are economically attractive to all airlines. Airline sales volumes in some markets are sometimes too thin to bear the usual expense structure associated with BSP participation. And yet, if allowed access to the BSP, an airline would derive considerable cost savings.
The System thus provides an opportunity for airlines to participate in those unattainable BSPs, at an affordable price. The benefits are shared by all: BSPs will benefit from additional throughput of business, which in turn will reduce overall BSP UTP costs and IATA Agents also benefit from being able to service more airlines, using Standard Traffic Document Stock and cost-saving BSP procedures.
How does the System work?
The airline signs up with APG and IDS to join the BSP in question, through the System. Upon acceptance by the local BSP, the airline becomes a participant in that BSP as any other usual member. But, instead of making up-front monetary contributions, the new BSP Airline defrays its joining charges over time, by paying a surcharge on the standard Unit Transaction Processed (UTP) charge of that BSP.
What is APG's role in the scheme?
APG and members of APG Association have been appointed the "System Consolidator" for the launch phase. In that capacity, they act in their respective territories as the interface between BSP and the airline joining BSP under the System. That involves setting up local arrangements for the BSP Airline if it so wishes, distribution and control of carrier identification plates (CIPs), looking after their appointing airlines' BSP interests in the territory and handling just as much of the accounting and settlement side of the activity as each BSP Airline in the System decides it needs.
Who may join the system?
The System is open to all airlines operating scheduled services, whether or not they are Members of IATA, provided they are not already BSP participants in the country concerned.

BSP monitors and eliminates defaulting agents promptly, reducing airline financial exposure.
BSP brings the collective influence of all participating carriers to bear in its dealings with the travel agent community. Did you know about IBCS...
that it is an official IATA program?
that joining BSP either in the traditional fashion or through IBCS involves no technological issues consider?
that no competitor for the IBCS program exists?
no minimum UTPs are charged in the first year after joining BSP through IBCS?
complete sales information on the IBCS, its benefits and the APG Association coverage is available on the Internet at www.apg-ibcs.com and www.apg.fr/association/?
that IBCS is ultimately a financial service? Therefore together with the Sales/ Marketing Departments, the Financial Departments of airlines should be involved in the decision of whether joining new BSPs makes economic sense or not?
